Loving your Enemy

Matthew 5:43-44

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.

44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

The first step to love our enemies is to pray for them. Jesus said, ‘pray for those who persecute you.’ If we pray for our enemies, something mysterious happens inside us. It is like pouring icy cold water to your sizzling emotions. When we continue to pray goodness for our enemies everyday, one day you’ll realize that your anger has gone. And once we have removed our anger, we can start doing good things for them such as:

  • Forgiving and forgetting about their sins against us. Forgiveness is an act of the will of the heart. And Christian forgiveness means that when we forgive, we also forget. Love keeps no record of wrongs.
  • Reaching out to them. We do not just forgive our enemies, we also take steps to be closer to them. Real forgiveness demands restoration of relationship. Just like how God has forgiven us and restored our relationship with Him.
  • Trusting them again. This could be the hardest part but we must know that trust is an essential element of love. An enemy that we’ll continue to distrust will always remain an enemy but when we trust them, they may even be our friends.

We should learn how to forgive, reach out and trust our enemies. This commandment of Jesus is actually the secret to make peace reign in the world. Have a peaceful and loving heart!

Wisdom comes from God

Young people tend to be timid and shy to say what's on their mind because they think that they do not have enough knowledge and credibility to deliver a message. But then adults tend to think that because of their age, they know things better than those younger than them. Realize where wisdom is coming from. It's coming from God alone and the Lord can use both young and old, it doesn't really matter, to deliver His message or do something for Him. So young people do not need to fear and adults must not be too proud. All Wisdom comes from God alone.

OCC Parugan Children's Outreach

Last June 4-7, 2013, Emmanuel's Christian Family Life Ministries conducted the Operation Christmas Child Program. It is a program wherein Children are taught about Jesus Christ and they will be receiving donated gifts in shoe boxes. During these days, classes have already started so it is very hard for us, the Sunday School teachers, to compromise with the schedule of the kids. We weren't able to make them go to church for almost a week to attend the teaching program anymore. But this didn't stop us either from pursuing this activity. Instead of making the kids go to us, what we did is to go to them. Our head Sunday school teacher assigned us to different places to teach, some have partners, some didn't, depending on the number of children we are going to teach. Since I only have less than ten students, I was assigned to go alone in Sitio Parugan. I didn't know if I will consider myself blessed  that time because the venue where I will be teaching is the ho...

There is no Fear in the Light

Psalms 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Fear is darkness . And there is only one solution to darkness, it is LIGHT. There can only be darkness when there is an absence of light. Same with our fears, we can overcome all of it using the liberating light of God. The Lord is our light and our salvation, whom shall we fear? Fear is controlled by our doubts but our Faith controls certainty. Fear sees darkness, while faith sees light. While fear sees wickedness, faith sees the goodness of the Lord. Nothing and no one can stop the light of God. So whenever we have the light of God, there can never be a shadow of darkness in our lives.   Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) If we obey His commandments, we follow His examples and...
