Last August 4, 2012, I celebrated my 18 th Birthday, 2 days advance to its actual date. It was really special. It’s not that much because every preparation for that special day was all by our own efforts and just the help of all the very special people in my life. We never paid for services from other people like catering, event organizer, sounds and lights etc. In fact, I really felt that the efforts from these closest people to me are the very same reason why my birthday is extra more special. We started preparing for these a month before the date. Actually I myself, never really exerted so much effort for the preparations, aside from of course, what color would I like to use, what will I wear and who are the friends I’m going to include to the 18’s. Reproductive Health Bill No. 5043 has been taking our leaders quite some time already and yet decisions can’t still be made. Why does this issue of family planning and population growth taking us too long? Is this bill really a work of evil trying to lure us into doing something that looks good yet will destroy our stand and morality later on? RH bill if passed will be a national policy on reproductive health, responsible parenthood and population development. For pro-RH Bill people, this bill is a very good way of promoting responsible parenthood. The Reproductive Health bill will be helping the Filipino parents, especially the poor to plan their family so that they can have children that will suit their financial capabilities. Thus, it will help solve their problem about food and education for their children. Reproductive Health Bill is an act providing for a national policy on reproductive health, responsible parenthood and population development, and for other purposes. It aims to provide responsible parenthood and population growth and I as I see it is not contradicting any Church Law and/or Morality etc. Church Leaders, Pro-Life and other religious sectors strongly disagree to the proposed bill. They believe that the bill is promoting sexual immorality. They see that the use of condoms and contraceptives endorses irresponsible sexual life which is sacred and is only for married couples. I, personally believe that the mission of the RH bill is positive. There is nothing wrong with family planning for population control which the bill is primarily promoting.
