Reproductive
Health Bill is an act providing for a national policy on reproductive health,
responsible parenthood and population development, and for other purposes. It
aims to provide responsible parenthood and population growth and I as I see it is
not contradicting any Church Law and/or Morality etc.
Church Leaders, Pro-Life and other
religious sectors strongly disagree to the proposed bill. They believe that the
bill is promoting sexual immorality. They see that the use of condoms
and contraceptives endorses irresponsible sexual life which is sacred and is
only for married couples.
I, personally believe that the
mission of the RH bill is positive. There is nothing wrong with family planning
for population control which the bill is primarily promoting. The proposed bill
simply aims to teach every parent to be responsible so that they can provide
what their children need including healthy lifestyle and proper education.
RH bill isn’t legalizing abortion.
It does not aim to kill life. On the other hand, it wants to provide a
comfortable life for every family. It aims to help the families achieve desired
family size and prevent unwanted, unplanned and mistimed pregnancies and not to
kill life.
In addition to this, the RH bill
is providing not just knowledge for the parents but also for the next
generation. As stated in Sec. 12 of the House Bill 5043, every student shall be
taught about Reproductive Health Education which includes; Reproductive health
and sexual rights; Attitudes, beliefs and values on sexual development, sexual
behavior and sexual health, Responsible parenthood, Abstinence before
marriage, Responsible sexuality and other important matters about Reproductive
Health. It does not propose to teach children how to achieve satisfying and
safe sex in life, actually, it will mold every child to have a deeper sense of
responsibility when it comes to sex.
The government says that this
Reproductive Health and Population Development Bill can also be a way of
diminishing poverty in our country, contradicting people says otherwise. The
government has a point on saying that population is one of the key problems why
poverty is widely spread all over the Philippines. Many People, less jobs
equals to a life of poverty. Yet it does not imply that this is the only thing
that can solve the whole problem. It is a way, yes. It is because when the
parents will be informed on how to plan their family they will be able to see
other factors such as their financial capability of building a family.
The bill isn’t promising riches to every family when they have a smaller family but it will give them the capability of providing all the needs of their children even if they earn less. Thus it will give them a more convenient life.
We must also respect the
separation of the church and state under our constitution as stated in Article
II section 6. Though, I am not against the church. I, myself is very much
conscious about spirituality that’s why I believe that God also wants His
people to develop a sense of responsibility in the things they do and to make
them experience a comfortable life here on Earth.
RH bill is definitely not
promoting immorality. It simply wants to give every Filipino family a
comfortable life without worries about food and education for their children.
Let us stop complicating things. Look into it as a step of progress and
development for the country. :)
